Shortly before the events of Chapter 5, Wakefield had a recurring dream in which he met a disabled man on a dark street. Although the man was usually silent, in one dream he said, "Give me back what he took." It is likely that Alexandre took his glass eye for some bizarre purpose. Wakefield eventually found the eye at the East Hill asylum after talking with an inmate in the isolation ward.

Wakefield found the disabled man at the rookery in St. Giles. The man blocked Wakefield's way to the Crimson Nest until Wakefield returned his glass eye.
